More About

During her broadcasting career, Emily Maitlis has covered the US presidential primaries and campaign on the road. She has interviewed Donald Trump numerous times and other influential figures from the worlds of politics, sports, and the arts.

She left the BBC in protest to the limitations on journalistic freedom to join LBC and launch a daily podcast and joint radio show with another former BBC journalist, Jon Sopel.

Emily is perhaps best known for her 2019 interview with Prince Andrew in an hour-long episode of Newsnight for the BBC, where she unravels the prince’s connection with American convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.  The interview earned her  “Interview of the Year” and “Scoop of the Year”  at the 2020 RTS Television Journalism Awards.

Inspired by the interview, Emily has also served as an executive producer for “A Very Royal Scandal” (2024), a film based on the interview. That same year, “Scoop,” a dramatic retelling of how the BBC secured the interview with Price Andrew, was released. It stars Gillian Anderson, Keeley Hawes, Billie Piper, and Rufus Sewell.

Other accolades include the Wincott Business Award for her documentary Inside Facebook, about Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Emily is also a popular voice in print and regularly contributes to GQ, The Sunday Times, Spectator Magazine, The Guardian, Evening Standard, and The New Statesman.
