More About
Ben Hurst is a consultant and facilitator with experience in gendered stereotypes, masculinity, class, race, the climate crisis, and intersectionality. He provides his audiences with the necessary emotional literacy to move towards more positive outcomes for themselves and their communities.
Ben’s TEDxLondonWomen talk ‘Boys Won’t Be Boys: Boys Will Be What We Teach Them To Be’ has been viewed over 176,000 times. In the talk, Ben rejects the common phrase as a ‘get out of jail free card’ for boys, men, and toxic masculinities. Instead, he challenges the assumptions around toxic forms of masculinity by encouraging conversation and providing a space for men to express emotion and build positive behaviours.
He is now the co-host of TEDx London’s Climate Curious podcast, where he lifts the lid on the climate emergency by speaking the world’s leading climate pioneers. With co-host Maryam Pasha, Ben has covered topics including drought, extreme weather, coral reefs, sustainability, and pollution.
He has recently become an ambassador for the Netflix programme Adolescence, hosting a panel discussion with the cast and crew, creating a video essay about the series, and hosting videos for Netflix’s YouTube channel.
Whatever the medium, Ben hopes to provide men with the necessary emotional literacy to move towards more positive outcomes for themselves and their community.
