Bridgid Nzekwu broke barriers as the UK’s first mixed-race female newsreader in an industry traditionally dominated by white male professionals.
A survivor of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Breast Cancer, Bridgid has undergone a double mastectomy, years of hormone treatment, and a 10-hour open-heart surgery. Her personal journey has made her a passionate advocate and inspirational host for well-being events.
Having faced significant health challenges, Bridgid Nzekwu developed a deep interest in traditional healthcare, alternative therapies, and nutrition. She pursued her passion by studying anatomy and physiology, earning a distinction in reflexology in 2020.
Bridgid has also contributed her expertise to media projects focused on health and education. She presented for Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies in 2010, wrote for The Sunday Times, produced short films for the NHS, and reported for the educational series Save Money! on Teachers TV.
As a speaker, Bridgid has delivered lectures at Cambridge University Judge Business School, the University of London Communications Forum and at the Women of Silicon Roundabout Expo.
