Since then, she has worked and reported everywhere from Africa to Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan. Now based between the Middle East and the UK, Lyse is renowned as the BBC’s most knowledgeable and respected commentator on Middle Eastern politics, culture, and commerce and offers insights into the broader geopolitical landscape.

In this report (June 2025), Lyse was on the ground in Tehran, Iran’s capital, during what seems to be a sustained ceasefire with Israel during the conflicts.
