Gloria De Piero’s career initially focused more on broadcasting than politics. She started as a researcher for ITV’s Jonathan Dimbleby (1994-2006), then worked on BBC’s On The Record (1998-2002), before becoming the political editor for GMTV (1993-2010), where she spent seven years.
In 2010, Gloria was elected as a Labour MP. Under leader Ed Miliband, she served as Shadow Culture Minister, later becoming Shadow Minister for Crime Prevention and Shadow Minister for Women and Equality. When Jeremy Corbyn became leader, she was appointed Shadow Minister for Young People and Voter Registration for a year before transitioning to Shadow Justice Minister.
After stepping down as an MP in 2020, Gloria was invited to be in the inaugural line-up at Times Radio, where she presented her own weekly eponymous show, The Gloria De Piero Show. She is now one of the main presenters of the news channel GB News, hosting The Briefing: Lunchtime with Gloria De Piero.
Gloria is passionate about connecting with people and their stories. In 2012, she embarked on a national tour, Why Do People Hate Me?, to understand voter discontent, visiting places like bingo halls and exercise classes to hear directly from the public.
